Dr Bling Bling

EveryDollar or Dr Bling Bling?

EveryDollar's free version asks you to type in every purchase. Its paid version connects to your bank. There is a third way, which is to use the statement you already get.

The short answer

Choose EveryDollar if you want a monthly budget that gives every dollar a job, and especially if you already follow Ramsey Solutions' approach.

Choose Dr Bling Bling if the typing is what made you give up, and you do not want to pay yearly to connect your bank instead.

Where EveryDollar is better

It is a budgeting tool and a good one. It has sinking funds, bill due dates and, on Premium, debt payoff tracking and coaching. It also works on a computer. This app has no budgets at all and is not going to grow them.

Where Dr Bling Bling is better

You never type a row from a bank statement again. A month of payments goes in at once, sorted, and a year goes in nearly as fast. For cash, there is manual entry.

When the app cannot place a payment, it asks you once and remembers the answer. The next statement gets it right, and so does every earlier payment to that place.

Nothing is stored online. Your spending stays on your iPhone and not on somebody's server.

What it will not do

It will not plan next month. It looks backwards and tells you what happened. If planning is what helps you, a budget app is the better tool.
