Dr Bling Bling
These two apps answer different questions. YNAB asks what each dollar is going to do. Dr Bling Bling asks what your money already did.
Choose YNAB if you want a budgeting method and you will open the app most days to work it. Plenty of people swear by it, and it has earned that.
Choose Dr Bling Bling if you never got on with budgeting and only want to know where the money went, without a monthly fee and without connecting your bank.

If you want to plan, YNAB does something this app will never do. It has a method, teaching material and a community around it. It runs on Android and the web, and one subscription can be shared across a household. With a bank connection, transactions arrive by themselves, and here they do not.
The learning curve is close to nothing, because there is no method to learn. You give it a statement. It sorts the payments, asks about the ones it cannot place, and remembers the answer for good.
Nothing leaves your iPhone. There is no account to create and no server holding your history. Once you stop paying for most budgeting apps, the tool stops. Here you pay once, or not at all.
Where a statement prints a running balance, the app also checks every line against it and tells you if a figure does not add up.
It has no budgets, no goals and no bank feed. On a first import it places roughly three quarters of payments by itself and asks about the rest. It has been tested hardest on Portuguese banks, and American statements are newer to it, so a first import may ask you more questions.
Free to download, and every way of adding a statement is free. No bank login, no account, no subscription.
YNAB offers file-based import, so a bank connection is not the only way in. It is still built around a budget you keep up to date yourself.
Every way of adding statements is free and the last three months are always visible. One purchase, paid once, unlocks the full history, the year view, the monthly check-up and Siri.
Written by the people who make Dr Bling Bling, so weigh it accordingly. What we say about other apps is what they published on 1 November 2026, and prices and features change. Their names belong to their owners, and we have no connection with them. Sources: YNAB pricing.
